Sad poem in Greek about the disastrous cyclone Tracy which hit Darwin in the small hours of Christmas Day 1974.

THE LATE CHRISTMAS CAROLS 1974 BY DARGO IN
Christmas has dawned all over the world, but in Darwin, brothers, nothing remains.
"Christ is born" was sung in the Churches, But the beautiful Darwin, nature is cursed.
This was not a storm, Atomic air! so that I don't stay standing, nothing in the place.
Twenty years of work with blood and struggles, "Tracy" took over within a few hours.
And while it was dawning brothers, Christmas for all, we found ourselves homeless, inside the five streets.
Such a Christmas, children, I tell myself, never to see again, my cruel enemy.
And we say goodnight to you, say to sleep, and never, never see such horrible destruction.

In the Australian Red Cross, all our efforts to help our other brothers.
The Salvation Army deserves thanks, where they so much encouraged the refugees for this.
If you say about Prime Minister Whitlam's Government, where he helps so much, that is also true.
The Australian People deserve congratulations,
because the support for Darwin's dispossessed people appeared to be Salvation.

Χριστούγεννα ξημέρωσε σ' ὅλη τὴν Οἰκουμένη, Στὸ Ντάργουῖν ὅμως ἀδελφοί, τίποτα δὲν ἀπομένει.
Στὶς Ἐκκλησιὲς ἐψάλλετο τὸ «Χριστὸς γεννᾶται», Μὰ τὸ ὡραῖο Ντάργουῖν ἡ φύσις καταρᾶται.
Δὲν ἦτο θύελλα αὐτή, ᾿Ατομικὴ ἀέρος! διὰ νὰ μὴ μείνη ὄρθιον, τίποτε εἰς τὸ μέρος.
Εἴκοσι χρονῶν δούλεψη μὲ αἷμα καὶ ἀγῶνες, ἡ «Τραίησυ» ἐξηφάνισεν μέσα σὲ λίγες ώρες.
Κ' ἐνῶ ξημέρωνε ἀδελφοὶ, Χριστούγεννα δι' ὅλους, ἐμεῖς βρεθήκαμε ἄστεγοι, μέσα στοὺς πέντε δρόμους.
Τέτοια Χριστούγεννα παιδιὰ λέω στὸν ἑαυτό μου, νὰ μὴ ξαναδῆ ποτέ, ὁ ποιὸ σκληρὸς ἐχθρός μου.
Καὶ σᾶς καλονυκτίζομε, πέστε νὰ κοιμηθῆτε, καὶ τέτοιον ὄλεθρον φρικτόν, ποτέ, ποτέ σας νὰ μὴ δῆτε.
ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΗΡΙΑ
Στὸν Αὐστραλὸ Ἐρυθρὸ Σταυρὸ ὅλοι τοὺς ὀβολούς μας διὰ νὰ βοηθήσουμε καὶ ἄλλους ἀδελφούς μας.
Στὸ Σαλβέσιον ῎Αρμυ ἀξίζει εὐχαριστῶ, ὅπου τόσον ἐνεθάρυνεν τοὺς πρόσφυγες γι' αὐτό.
᾿Αν πῆς γιὰ τὴν Κυβέρνηση πρωθυπουργοῦ Οὐΐτλαμ, ὅπου τόσον βοηθᾶ, κι' αὐτὸ εἶναι ἀλήθεια.
Στὸν Αὐστραλέζικο Λαὸ ἀξίζουν συγχαρητήρια,
γιατί ἡ συμπαράστασις στους ξεσπιτωμένους τοῦ Ντάργουῦν ἐφάνηκεν Σωτήρια.
