明治三十三年軍艦金剛南洋諸島及濠洲航海報告 — The Report on War Ship Kongo's Voyage in the South Seas and to Australia in 1900

In February 1900, two Japanese war ships, the Kongo and the Hiei, set off Yokosuka to their six month voyage across the South Seas and to Australia. They firstly sailed south to Hong Kong and Manila and reached Thursday Island on 9 April, After spending ten days there, the ships visited Townsville, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia before sailing to Fiji. The ships wharfed in each Australian port between one to two weeks. They reached Tokyo on 23 August 1900. The report provides detailed information on the sea route and water depth survey carried out by the Kongo and on facilities at each port. The Japanese residents in Australian ports are mentioned as well.
