Chinese

Chinese languages have been widely spoken in Australia since the nineteenth century. Chinese-language print and press, as well as oral history and manuscript materials, are an important source for Australian history. Early Chinese-language press is partially covered in Trove, and state and local archives hold community and court records, most of which has never been translated. Materials in public and private collections exist throughout all Australian states and territories, ranging from the formal holdings of political organisations such as the Chinese Youth League or the Australasian branch of the KMT, to local museums, community records, and family letters.
