Greek language communities

Greeks have been living in Australia since the first part of the nineteenth century. Greek-language newspapers have been published in Australia since 1913. Today there are large communities in every city, especially Sydney and Melbourne, reflecting great political and social diversity.

Some of the active Greek communities and institutions in Sydney are:

  • The Hellenic Historical and Cultural Centre NSW
  • The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW
  • The Greek Film Society
  • The Mytilenian Brotherhood of Sydney & NSW
  • The Kytherian Association
  • Atlas Greek Community Centre
  • The Castellorizian Association NSW
  • The Pondian Club NSW
  • The Kalymnian Association NSW
  • The Cretan Association of Sydney and NSW
  • The Greek Festival of Sydney
