Manoly Lascaris (1912-2003) was born in Cairo. He met Patrick White in 1941 when White was serving in Egypt with the RAF. In 1948 Lascaris migrated to Australia. They lived at ‘Dogwoods’, Castle Hill, and later moved to Centennial Park in 1964. White drew on Lascaris’ Greek background in some of his writing. |
