“This clandestine magazine [Brennessel] was printed secretly by the German internees at the Tatura Internment Camp over a period of 9 months. It is highly satirical and surprisingly well-informed, each issue including up-to-date information about the progress of the war in Africa and Asia.” cf. Sothebys sale catalogue, Melbourne, 28/8/89, p. 59. The pictorial cover of each issue is hand-coloured.
