0.03 m (1 folder) Folder comprises three handwritten Victorian government proclamations. The first in Chinese script seeks help identifying a murdered Chinese miner on the Ararat Goldfields in 1860. The second condemns the practice by Chinese interpreters of demanding bribes in exchange for supposed protection from authorities, 1869. The third is an official warning of the penalties for lighting grassfires, issued 13 January 1867 and is a translation of the Chinese language original held in the National Library of Australia Asian Collections. |
