Title translated into English: Australia and India.

Synopsis of contents: This is an account of travels by the author, who was in Australia and India for nine months. The author records his impressions of certain tourist spots in Sydney, before outlining his impressions of the wharf strikes and the new libertarian mood in Australia. He concludes with sections outlining key events in the exploration of Australia, and the gold rush of the 1850s and its aftermath. The author characterises Australians as hard working, putting up with difficult conditions. He counters the traditional view that the colony, as in America, developed from the downtrodden and criminals. Instead, he characterises the history of Australia’s colonisation as the displacement of different peoples.
