Description From SourceStandard map of Great East Asia : all Australia. 15. 1 map : colour ; 55 cm x 77 cm, folded to 27 cm x 22 cm. + slip on cover. Map shows: Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania (inset), Western Australia, South Australia and Northern Territory; colour coded accordingly. Includes legend. This map, issued after Japan’s entry into World War II, was number 15 in a series of 20 maps detailing the various regions of Asia and the Pacific. Northern Territory was still being bombed by the Japanese, the last raid was 12th November 1943. 5,000 copies printed 5/4/1943. Map shows Alice Springs’ previous name, Stuart. Not all of towns are named, except for coastal bays, capes and islands. Landscape features, rivers and roads are identified. The map also indicates the underwater power cable between the mainland and Tasmania.
