Description From Source42 cm. (3 boxes). Folders 1-16, 18-19: Japanese and Allied propaganda relating to the Japanese invasion of New Guinea in World War II. The documents chiefly consist of leaflets and newspaper extracts, and some distribution instructions, in languages such as English, Indonesian, Malay, Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Portuguese, Tetum (Timorese), Arabic, Hindi and Pidgin English, which were printed for distribution in Borneo, Sarawak, Brunei, Timor, Bougainville, Morotai, Java and other places in the region. Official English translations are attached to many of the items, some of which include a pictorial component. Folder 17: Typescript reminiscences of C.G. Kerr, Australian soldier, in which he describes a paroled Japanese prisoner of war who assisted with leaflet writing targeted at the Japanese; photograph of Kerr, taken in Brisbane, 1943.
