Letters to Denis George in Greek

Abstract

Series of letters among Denis (Greek name Dinos) and family members; his sister Ritsa, his brother Nikos, his nieces, and his mother in Athens (Markora 37). All write to Denis to describe how proud they are for his hard work and courage to immigrate in Australia to become a valuable pearler. His sister is a hard working public servant in IKA and she has two sons George and Stefanos. “Mum is proud she will be wearing a pearl cross from you.. We don’t want to think the distance that separates us, we feel you are among us, here with us” Correspondence demonstrate a tight Greek family, which did not have the opportunity to meet often.
