Shōwa 17 [1942] A pocket type cover attached with title ‘Ranryō Higashi Indo Nan’yo chihō yōzu : Futsuin, Tai, Biruma, Shingapōru, Marē, Firipin, Ran-In, Nan’yō guntō; possible series name also recorded as ‘Dai Tōa Kyōeiken’; price is recorded ’50-sen’. Map of Micronesia, Indonesia, Phillipines, South East Asian countries, and northern Australia. National borders of that period highlight the islands in Micronesia, particularly, as they were under Japanese rule. Ocean liners’ routes are also shown. Official seal issued by [Nihon Tosei Chizu] with approval no. 682 upper left edge. National borders of the Japanese occupied regions of Micronesia, Hong Kong and Macao are indicated with red and black lines, Australian colonial territory in the area of New Guinea is also similarly shown. Other colonial possessions held by European powers are indicated by colour. The coloured pie chart lower left corner shows populations and the size of the territories held by colonial powers of Japan, Dutch East Indies, French Indochina, Thailand, Philippines. For all the indication of colonial possessions, Japan is not shown as holding any part of China other than Hong Kong and Macao. Map shows shipping routes from Darwin to include coastal shipping to Wyndham as well as the shipping route to Surabaya. |
