Description From Source128 p., [2] folded leaves : maps ; 25 cm. This report is made by Nihon Togyō Rengōkai–Pref. Title translated into English: The Australian sugar industry. Synopsis of content: This is a report on the Australian sugar industry by the Southern Economic Study Group. It was commissioned by the Japan Sugar Industry Federation as part of wider research into the economic conditions of Australia and New Zealand. The work focuses on Queensland, and examines aspects of the growing, processing, marketing, trade and consumption of sugar in Australia. It also looks at state control of the industry, and stresses the importance of the industry to the national economy, and to national defence strategies. The author concludes that, although the Australian sugar industry is of concern regarding the Greater East Asian Co-prosperity Sphere, it his not his position to comment on whether it is Japan’s strategy to eventually include in the Sphere either the northern sugar industry, or indeed all of the Australian mainland.
