Description
A pinball or bagatelle-style tabletop game involving a kangaroo and an inclined board.
A tin kangaroo hops down the incline to push a selection of balls into numbered sections at the base of the game. It would appear that the player who has the highest score wins.

This late nineteenth century French children’s game featuring a kangaroo attests to the on-going fascination with Australia’s faunal emblem. This is one of several French games held by the Library within the Children’s Literature Research Collection.

The French had access to live kangaroos from the early 1800s through specimens collected by the Baudin expedition.
