In Venetia, [1695?]. 1 map ; 40.8 cm in diam., on sheet 47.9 x 67.7 cm Map of the Eastern Hemisphere. The map includes place names in Italian, and shows European discovery dates. On the Australian continent, Dutch place names are shown. The continent is shown with an incomplete south eastern coastline; the north eastern part of the continent is cut from the sheet. On the Australian continent is shown ‘Terra Concordia (1618)’, ‘Terra d’Edels 1619’, ‘Terra de Lewin 1622’, ‘Terra de Pietro Nuyts 1627’. At the southern part of the continent is shown the Island of ‘San Francesco’, (Kangaroo Island). At the northern part of the continent is ‘Terra di Diemen’, and ‘Terra di Arnhem’. At the lower section of the sheet is a large ‘Terra Australe Incognita’, drawn with a vague and incomplete coastline. Has decorative border, with astrological symbols. At the upper left of the sheet is a dedication to Signore Pietro Marcello. At the lower sides of the sheet are the tables “Un grado del circolo massimo della terra” and “Quante miglia, o leghe conuengono ad un grado dell Equatore.”
