Three letters, dated December 1863, from Bligh, Harbottle & Co., Sydney and Melbourne import agents, to Boutelleau & Co.(Barbezieu, Cognac, France), two letters are in English and one is in French. The letters discuss the importation of pale and dark brandy, with special mention of cognac from the house of Martell (Martell’s 1863 brandy), also the amount of brandy imported, sale prices, the fluctuating state of the market in Melbourne and Sydney, plus the loss of a substantial cargo on the ship “Iquique” after it ran aground close to Sydney. |
