Abstract

Collection of four manuscripts written by French naval officer and explorer, Gaston de Roquemaurel in which he examines and evaluates penal transportation, convicts and Australia’s colonial penal system based on contemporary literature, circa 1836. 1. Notes on Histoire De Botany-Bay / by Jules De La Pilorgerie (1836) 2. Notes on Two years in New South Wales / by Peter Cunningham (1827) 3. Two manuscripts with notes on Histoire des colonies penales de l’Angleterre dans l’Australie / by Ernest Blosseville (1831)
