Translation

No. 39 Onboard H.M. Korver Argo at Ampenan, 28 October 1842

In response to your letter of today, it is pertinent that although I am saddened to see my mission, which has no other objectives than those favourable to Lombok, delayed, I believe that I will comply with the condition set by the Ruler, must submit and only hope that what is feasible will be done so that the negotiations between myself and the Ruler mentioned(?) can be opened quickly.
