Notes • Printed below the Chinese characters l.l.: Regulation of Mines Statute 37 Vic. No.480. Translated by C.P. Hodges Esq. Chief Chinese Interpreter for the Colony of Victoria under instructions from R. Brough Smyth F.G.S. Chief Inspector of Mines and Published by direction of the Honorable Wm. McClellan M.P. Minister of Mines for the Colony of Victoria. • Dated below characters l.c.: 20th November 1875. • Inscribed in ink on verso: Misc. / 13 / Cd5. • The poster was originally mounted on two wooden supports, now at LTRE 709. Exhibited “All the rage: the poster in Victoria 1850-2000”, Keith Murdoch Gallery, State Library of Victoria, 10 August – 28 October 2001.
