Material relating to Giuseppe and Mariangela Vescio’s immigration to Australia including documents, letters and photographs. 1. Mariangela Vescio’s naturalisation and citizenship certificate 2. Giuseppe Vescio’s naturalisation and citizenship certificate 3. Giuseppe Vescio’s discharge certificate from the Italian army (93rd regiment), 14 October 1923 4. Declaration of birth and location information, as well as permission for emigration from Conflenti, 21 June 1946 5. Antonio Vescio’s declaration of birth and location, as well as permission for emigration from Conflenti, 28 May 1952 6. Antonio Vescio’s discharge certificate from the Italian army, 12 December 1947 7. Marriage Certificate (Comune di Conflenti), 13 July 1920 between Giuseppe Vescio aged 18, farmer, born in Conflenti, son of Antonio and Rosa Strauges and Mariangela Tomasino, aged 19, born in Conflenti. Certificate was issued on 5th January 1960. 8. [Absence of Criminal Record Certificate]: in the name of Mariangela Tomasino, dated “21.6.1900”. 9. [Absence of Criminal Record Certificate]: in the name of Giuseppe Vescio, born 3 May 1902 in Conflenti for the purpose of seeking employment abroad; dated: Conflenti, 30 July 1926. 10. Foreign Italian Fascist membership card: in the name of Giuseppe Vescio of Wonthaggi, Melbourne, registered Italian Fascist in Melbourne “from 1938” [includes a portrait of Benito Mussolini on cover.] 11. The boys are dressed in suits, with one standing on a side table. It appears that there was once a pencil inscription on the verso which may have identified the subjects, but this has both faded and been torn with time, making it illegible. |
