Abstract

Written in German in the form of a diary, it describes a voyage from Liverpool to Melbourne on the Ann Dashwood, 13 June-9 Nov. 1853, and experiences on arrival, 9-30 Nov. 1853, including a description of Paul de Castella’s property “The Bush”. Also an English translation of the letter and biographical notes. James Pfund, born about 1831, was a Swiss architect. As soon as he arrived in Melbourne, he was engaged by Paul de Castella to work on his property.
