Volume set with accompanying atlas detailing the journey of Jean-FrancĢ§ois de Galaup, comte de LapeĢrouse, who was appointed to lead an expedition around the world by Louis XVI in 1785. During the expedition LapeĢrouse travelled to Easter Island, Hawaii, Alaska, California, Macau, Japan, Russia, Samoa, Tonga, and Australia. The set is composed of material sent back to France by the expedition before it was lost in 1789. |
