Australie : het onbekende Zuidland naderbij : lottgevallen van de Aborigines en van Nederlands ontodekkingsreizigers en emigranten
Abstract
The booklet was produced for the exhibition called ‘Geraradus van der Leeuw’. It provides an overview of contacts between the Netherlands and Australia from the 17th century, when the Dutch navigators first explored the northern and western parts of Australia, resulting in the new continent known in Europe as ‘New Holland’. The booklet also focusses on early Dutch settlement, mainly during the 1850s Goldrush. The final part of the publication describes the post-war Dutch immigration to Australia.
