1 item (25.0 x 40.0 cm.) Single sheet of paper with printed letterhead, folded to letter size, 25.0 x 20.0 cm., and showing old folds. Written in a neat secretarial hand in ink and signed by the three French scientists. Comprises the official letter dated 18 December 1816 to Louis de Freycinet signed by the scientists Vauquelin, Desfontaines and Jussieu, professors of the Muséum d’histoire naturelle, Paris. The letter states their support for the collection of natural history specimens on the L’Uranie voyage and the appointment of a naturalist for this purpose. |
