Prakash Chandra Jain from India, studying for an honours degree in Engineering, at the University of Queensland, has been appointed lecturer in the Hindi language by the University’s Institute of Modern Languages. The first Asian student to be appointed a lecturer by the Institute, he teaches elementary Hindi to a small class of Australians at night classes. Prakash is also a part-time graduate demonstrator in the Department of Engineering, lecturing first year students – Prakash discusses the Hindi language with two of his students, Mr I R Rogers (left) and newsagent, Mr R J Josiffe [Photographic image].
