The manuscript was translated by Amedeo Sala, edited by John Melville-Jones. The barque Stefano was shipwrecked on the North-West coast in 1875. Skurla’s manuscript describes the experiences of the castaways and provides informatoin about the life and language of the Aboriginal people of the North-West Cape. Stefano Skurla was a Roman Catholic priest (born?, died 1877). |
