A collection of letters written in German and English relating to the Course family between 16 May 1932-4 December 1978. There is one letter dated 12 June 1917 from Jakob Langer. The letters were written from many places including London, England; Miami & New York, U.S.A.; Genoa & Florence, Italy; Vienna, Austria; Zurich, Switzerland; South Yarra, Ivanhoe, Surrey Hills in Victoria and Hobart, Tasmania. Many of the letters are written to Hertha and Peter as well as the “children”. Many of the earlier letters relate to the family’s escape from Vienna during the Second World War. These relate how the family managed to continue to communicate despite the hardships imposed by Nazi Germany and the dislocation associated with finding a new permanent home. Some letters are written by Laurence Course and refer to his research into Rupert Bunny.
